I can hardly believe our little girl is TWO today!
I've been a bit behind on blogging and have a couple of events to catch up on (like, ahem, me turning 35! yikes I'm old!) - but wanted to take a moment to post a picture of our birthday girl! We did a simple family celebration last night and then today for her "real" birthday she spent the morning playing with her cute little bestie, Ruby. Simple, sweet, and so much fun!
I can easily say I was caught "red handed" making her cake. The dye I used for the dark fondant ribbon and flower stuck with me from late Saturday night when I worked on it, until last night. I waved at people at church on Sunday and got some funny looks (weird pregnancy side effect? no just my amateur cake making!) Oh, for anyone more experienced than I am with fondant - how in the world do you get the sides completely flat? I had to fold it over in a couple of spots. I'm sure there's some trick, but I didn't have time to figure it out this time...perhaps the next :) Her cake turned out pretty enough - but I think the birthday girl stole the show in her little red dress. Love that girl! More catch up to come...eventually :)

Happy birthday sweet girl!! I definitely am no fondant pro by any means, but I've found that rolling it out much, MUCH bigger than the circle diameter helps a ton for some reason. The bigger you roll out your circle, the more room you'll have to work/smooth out the wrinkles on the cake. Then I just cut off the excess fondant at the bottom or tuck it underneath the bottom of the cake. Anyway, I think it's super cute! And it was fun to come help celebrate her birthday.
Now on to the details of YOUR birthday! You may be 35, but you don't look it:)
