Thanksgiving

We had a marvelous Thanksgiving with our family in Oregon. The 5 days we spent flew by much too quickly (as is always the case!)

We have so much to be grateful for...especially family. We love you all! Thanks for a lovely visit!

Sawyer and Sophie la Girafe

The other morning after I was finished doing a photoshoot and still had everything out, I thought I might as well snap a few of Sawyer. I also had several requests last night at our ward potluck to see more pics of our handsome little man (he is oh-so-popular at church, being the only baby in a Young Single Adult ward!). So here are a couple. This is Sawyer with his new favorite toy, Sophie la Girafe. She is a rubber girafe who originated in France in the early 1960s. Apparently her success as a baby's first toy, and favorite teething toy, has spilled over to the U.S. as she has been sighted in many a babies mouth - at least in our city. It's amazing how well Sophie fits into little hands and makes her neck, nose, and legs available for slobber-fests. I highly recommend this toy to anyone with a teething baby! You might not guess how much Sawyer enjoys Sophie's company as he is pretty serious-faced here...but...

...here's his signature smile. Yes, Sophie squeaks, too. She is great for getting babies' attention during photoshoots!

Mama's Main (morning) Man

I woke up this morning and glanced at the clock. Actually, I stared at it for quite sometime (I am fascinated with the glowing numbers)!

7:15 am. Not bad. A good 12 hours sleep will do anyone some good (maybe my mama should go to sleep when I do instead of staying up past midnight doing projects and random things -- then she couldn't complain about lack of sleep -- silly Night Owl).

Ahh...so nice to have a slow morning. Roll around a little. Kick my feet up. Suck on my toes... Anyone else enjoy lounging?
Oh my golly! I just realized something!

Today is Friday!
Happy Friday to all and may you all have a wonderful, fun & relaxing weekend!

5 months

Sawyer is five months old today. He sure has a lot of tricks for five months! He can almost sit by himself, and he is getting close to crawling! For now, he scoots, turns in circles, and rolls where he wants to go. We are slightly nervous that once he gets truly mobile he will be a hard one to keep up with. Maybe I should get rid of my gym membership!?! He is so much fun! We love him to pieces!

Birthday Boy!

Jacob turns 31 today (the young buck)! It will be a fun day celebrating him. Sawyer and I got up while he was at the gym this morning and decorated the house with balloons etc., and then we had a special breakfast of Blueberry Crunch Coffee Cake before we gave him a ride to work. We are also going to pick him up and take him out to lunch...and then celebrate tonight with a nice home-cooked meal, cake, ice-cream, and of course a couple of presents.

Jacob means the world to me. If I could describe him in just one word it would be: Amazing. He lights my world, lifts me up, cheers me on. He gives me a shoulder to cry on and someone to laugh with. He has made my fondest dreams come true (being a wife and a mother). He is a wonderful husband, and the kind of friend everyone needs. Sawyer lights up when he sees him. So do I. He is such a great Dad to our little son. I love him madly!

Happy Birthday, Jacob! May all your Birthday wishes come true!!!

Rice Cereal!

We didn't expect this would happen quite so early: Sawyer's keen interest in food. We were thinking/hoping we'd start him on the road to solids closer to around 6 months, but he's been demonstrating all of the obvious cues (great head control, looking at our food with those big eyes saying "can't I have some?" and reaching and grabbing for our food). We finally gave in.

His first try was about a week ago. We've only given him rice cereal 3 times so far...taking it slow. However, last night, with a bit more solid mixture than this first serving, he just opened his mouth wide, waiting for the spoon, and then he grabbed the spoon and tried to shove it in himself. It is a little scary how excited he is about food! It looks like he will be a healthy eater (as if he isn't already...just look at his round little face!) We've also started training him with his little cup. It's pretty amazing how quickly he is catching on! Now we get to look foward to that yummy baby smell of applesauce and graham crackers...but much worse smelling diapers. Joy!
